Up to this point, heavy-duty truck engines running on LNG have been in pilot
use only and have remained expensive. The harbor commissioners took the costs
of upgrading current fleets into consideration and unanimously voted to create
a grant program, enabling independent companies to move toward greener trucking.
American Shipper recently reported: "The largest single portion of the money
will go to Rancho Dominquez-based transportation firm Southern Counties Express.
The firm, which began pursuing the idea of building a fleet of LNG tractors
several years ago, will receive $9.2 million from the ports for the purchase of
50 LNG tractors."

In addition to the initial 50 truck fleet, we have been working with the South
Coast Air Quality Management District; they have committed to providing funding
to bring another 21 LNG tractors into our fleet.
|
This is something we have been working toward for quite some time and seeing it
come to fruition is very exciting. To compliment the
Port's program, we are
building an LNG fueling station and an LNG service station, both of which will be
open to the public.

Our 71 new Green Fleet trucks will be integrated
into our operations between December 2007 and
March 2008. We are extremely grateful to the
Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and the
South Coast Air Quality Management District for
allowing us to be a part of something that will
ultimately make Southern California a better
place to live.
